Fanart Archive #2
Another collection of Arc-V fanart (and rants)

Illustration pair featuring Zarc and Yuya! The colors are relatively muted compared to the canon bright colors, and I spent the bulk of the work time figuring out their expressions.
Zarc didn’t get a lot of screen time in the anime, so I took my time nailing down his face in the first illustration- his left side is inspired by the innocence of Yuya/ Yugo, while his right side is inspired by the determination of Yuto/ Yuri.
For the second illustration, Yuya’s smile doesn’t quite reach his eyes- his eyes didn’t curve upward), and I really like how he’s staring at the camera, both cutely and a little scarily.
On a side note, this originally started as a headshot sketch for Zarc! The top of his onion hair got cut in the final illustration though due to framing purposes.

Yuzu x Yuto was a really mainstream ship back when season 1 aired, and I can definitely see why… the way Yuto treats Yuzu super, super gently and kindly, even when he realized Yuzu was not Ruri, was really something…
Later Yuya and Yuto merge, so Yuzu gets the 2-in-1 boyfriend (?) treatment regardless (laugh

Yuzu and Yuya! The anime ending may have been rushed, but if there was one thing that the show got right, it was Yuya reuniting with Yuzu with a ‘welcome back’ after 100+ episodes of constant separation and angst (tears
This was one of my very first Arc-V illustrations that I managed to draw Yuzu and Yuya relatively on-model (after studying and breaking apart official art for hours), and a lot of the work experience carried onto subsequent comics too.

Yuya and Yuri summons Odd Eyes Venom Dragon! Drew them doing the fusion summon CLAP too, since technically they share the same pose (and mind)
The Japanese text is the summon chant moniker for Odd Eyes Venom Dragon (‘dragon with eyes shining of compassion’). I‘ve always felt that Yuri may not 100% agree with Yuya’s naming tastes when it comes to the dragons, so I drew him with a pout (while Yuya does his happy smile)
On a side note, Yuya and Yuri truly have different faces, why are they stated to look exactly the same in the show remains a mystery to me…

Yusho has a LOT to unpack concerning Yuya’s look-alikes- drew this to mark down what interesting (read: conflicting) conversations they could have.
Speaking of which, Yusho actually never met Yuto in person during the show, even though he spread his egao philosophy to Yuto (through Ruri). His encounter with Yugo in the Academia was super brief too, the Arc-V anime truly has an extremely large cast (and filler episodes) that limits the screen time for side characters….
That’s it for today! Thanks for reading up to the end (again)
